in this small desert
where I live
I can’t be still
as I was
in the waves
I once dove under.
it happened there,
the whirlwind
the fish
a mass of shimmering all around.
I could not move
breathe
hear.
the fish mirror the light into me
a chorus of bodies
so close, I’m dizzy
frightened,
though they never touch me.
a
mirror the light into me
I'm dizzy
fgtened,
they never touch me.
now, I am here,
unstill in the desert
still salted with their light.
